Lots of construction going on in Downtown Cary! Here is what to expect for the future.

Downtown Cary Park

The park is on a seven-acre lot on the corner of Academy Street and Walnut Street. The master plan includes a Town Square, a large fountain, outdoor performance space, and open lawn areas. An outdoor Bocce Ball court, chess tables, and table tennis are also planned near Academy Street. The park is scheduled to finish construction Spring of this year.

Library and Parking Deck

In 2013, Cary Town Council approved the location of a new library near the corner of Walnut Street and Kildaire Farm Road. Wake County will handle both the design and construction of the project. Since then, Wake County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved schematic design plans for the regional library.

Library Site Plan

The new 22,000-25,000-square-foot downtown library will have two floors, a large multipurpose room, and an increased volume of books.

The four-story parking deck will have a brick art facade that mimics the look of trees which matches the Downtown Park nature. Openings in the brick will be backlit, giving the parking deck a firefly effect at night.

Bidding for the project begins in the Spring and construction is scheduled to start this August. Both the parking deck and library are expected to open November 2018.
